Alexandrinsky Theatre School holds classes in the Republic of Tajikistan
The Tajikistan Academic Theatre named after Abolqasem Lahouti in Dushanbe has hosted the residency of the international programme of the project "Alexandrinsky Theatre School: Development of Cooperation with the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States". The project was initiated by St Petersburg University and the National Drama Theatre of Russia (Alexandrinsky Theatre). Among the participants were 27 managers of culture and art, and actors from theatres of the republic.
In the course of the academic programme of the project, which took place from 24 April 2024 to 26 April 2024, students attended lectures on career planning, management psychology, and discussed the problems of the modern theatrical process. The classes for the participants in the school were conducted by experts from St Petersburg University and the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts. Alexander Chepurov, Doctor of Art Studies, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, and Deputy Artistic Director of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, also gave a lecture for theatre managers.
During the training, the participants were divided into teams and, together with experts, developed a number of team projects. They subsequently defended and discussed the projects in an open dialogue format with Sergey Emelyanov, General Manager of the Alexandrinsky Theatre.
Additionally, an educational intensive course titled "Acting in a Modern Context" was held for actors of the Republic of Tajikistan. The course was developed by the Alexandrinsky Theatre and the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts. The participants listened to lectures and underwent acting training aimed at developing plasticity, body sensation in space, trust in partners, attention, thinking, memory, and other aspects of psychophysics.
Each participant in the project who completed the course ‘Fundamentals of Management in the Contemporary National Theatre’ and passed the final certification received state-recognised diplomas of advanced training from the University. The presentation of certificates to graduates took place with the participation of Sergey Emelyanov, General Manager of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, and Semyon Grigoryev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan.

The project "Alexandrinsky Theatre School: Development of Cooperation with the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States" was implemented in the Republic of Tajikistan with the support of the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS and the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan. In February 2024, a course for theatre managers was held in Azerbaijan.
