St Petersburg University and hh.ru have agreed to jointly implement an academic programme to equip master’s students with relevant skills in personnel management. The agreement was signed at the 9th St Petersburg International Labour Forum. The ceremony was attended by Marina Lavrikova, Senior Vice-Rector for Academic Activities at St Petersburg University, and Iuliia Sakharova, Director of hh.ru for the Northwestern Federal District.

The master’s programme "Human Resource Management" is aimed at preparing specialists capable of developing and implementing systems of operational and strategic human resource management. The programme combines theoretical foundations and practical skills necessary for a successful career in HR. Students will receive a comprehensive education, including modern methods of working with personnel.

By bridging the rich educational experience of St Petersburg University and the practical experience of our partners, we create a unique environment where theoretical knowledge is organically combined with real-world cases and current trends in the labour market.

Marina Lavrikova, Senior Vice-Rector for Academic Activities at St Petersburg University

"Our graduates will receive all necessary competencies for the development and implementation of modern human resource management systems at both the operational and strategic levels," said Marina Lavrikova, Senior Vice-Rector for Academic Activities at St Petersburg University.

The academic programme "Human Resource Management" is built on the principles of practical immersion in the profession. Its integral part is the work of the HR Clinic at St Petersburg University, which is a unique platform for gaining real-world experience in the field of personnel management.

Iuliia Sakharova, Director of hh.ru for the Northwestern Federal District, spoke about modern trends in the labour market and shared current statistics.

The hh.ru analytics show that employers are actively attracting young people to their teams. Over the past year, young specialists in Russia have received more than 100 million job offers. St Petersburg graduates are also among the leaders in terms of the number of job offers. Over the year, they have received more than 14 million offers from St Petersburg employers.

Iuliia Sakharova, Director of hh.ru for the Northwestern Federal District

"This year, the number of invitations to vacancies, interviews or directly to work that St Petersburg students received was 79% more than in 2023. This indicates that not only has the demand for personnel among companies increased, but also their activity in the labour market, directly related to attracting young applicants," said Iuliia Sakharova, Director of hh.ru for the Northwestern Federal District.

Yet, hh.ru also records difficulties in finding a job and a high level of competition among St Petersburg young people, which is more than 20 up to 30 candidates for one vacancy in those areas that are particularly in demand among young people, said Iuliia Sakharova. Young specialists are afraid of making a mistake in choosing an employer company, often do not know what to choose, need reference points and opinion leaders, and do not always proceed to work in their profession. This is a difficult task that requires a comprehensive solution.

From 2 to 4 April, the 9th International Labour Forum is being held in St Petersburg. The event brings together experts from Russia and other countries to discuss current trends and formulate a strategy for developing labour potential in the digital age. The forum is organised by the Committee for Labour and Employment of St Petersburg, St Petersburg University, the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, ExpoForum International, and the Agency for Human Capital Development in the Northwestern Federal District. The event is supported by the Federal Service for Labour and Employment (Rostrud) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

"We need to work together to eliminate the disconnections between professional education and market needs. The agreement between the leading representative of the business environment of the labour market represented by hh.ru and one of the key universities in Russia is therefore an excellent prospect for cooperation!", Iuliia Sakharova emphasised.
