Classes of the joint academic programme of St Petersburg University and the Alexandrinsky Theatre held in Baku
More than 30 representatives in the field of culture and art from Azerbaijan have completed the course for theatre managers developed at St Petersburg University within the framework of the international educational project "Alexandrinsky Theatre School: Development of Cooperation with the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States". The project was initiated by St Petersburg University and the National Drama Theatre of Russia (Alexandrinsky Theatre).

Classes of the academic programme were held at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre from 19 February to 21 February 2024. The lecturers were leading experts in the field of management and production of theatrical projects from St Petersburg University, the National Drama Theatre of Russia (Alexandrinsky Theatre), and the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts. Each participant in the project who completed the programme "Fundamentals of Management in the Contemporary National Theatre" and passed the final certification received state-recognised diplomas of advanced training from the University. Additionally, the educational intensive course "Acting in a Modern Context" was held for artists from Azerbaijan. The course was developed by the Alexandrinsky Theatre and the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts.

As part of the business and creative programmes of the project, a memorandum of cooperation with the Alexandrinsky Theatre was signed, and the exhibition ‘Selected Images of the Russian Stage’ was opened. Additionally, Petr Semak, People’s Artist of Russia, held a creative meeting at the Russian House in Baku.

St Petersburg University, as part of a strategic partnership with the Alexandrinsky Theatre, delivers academic programmes for training managers in the creative industry and performing arts. The main objective is to enhance the skills of managers operating in theatre, film, independent creative projects, and other cultural institutions. These programmes are focused on utilising software and project-based methods of personnel management and developing business communications within the context of the rapid digitalisation of processes.
The project "Alexandrinsky Theatre School: Development of Cooperation with the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States" was implemented in Baku with the support of the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian House in Baku. In 2024, the academic programmes of the project will be implemented in the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
