Educational TV channel launched to mark the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg University
The thematic TV channel ‘300 Years of St Petersburg University’ has been launched on the University’s birthday. The channel will introduce people from all over the country to the life of Russia’s oldest university. The 24-hour broadcast will feature science TV shows, documentaries and video lectures of popular online courses developed by the University’s leading scholars.
To mark the University’s anniversary, Russia’s largest TV operator Tricolor launched an educational TV channel ‘300th Years of St Petersburg University’. The channel presents the history of St Petersburg University, shows modern students and teachers and their famous predecessors, and provides an opportunity to view educational content of online courses.
From the video lectures, viewers will learn more about occupational health psychology, which will be helpful to overcome stress and emotional burnout; acquire visualisation skills for creative solutions of educational tasks; master techniques of argumentation and critical thinking; and get acquainted with the works of foreign writers of the 20th century and literary treasures of the Middle East. Without leaving their homes, viewers will be able to watch lectures by leading professors of the University. Among them are: Tatiana Chernigovskaya, Director of the Institute for Cognitive Studies at St Petersburg University, one of the leading experts in Russia and abroad in the field of cognitive science; Apollinariia Avrutina, Director of the Centre for Contemporary Turkish Studies and Russia-Türkiye Relation; the writer Andrei Astvatsaturov, Director of the Vladimir Nabokov Museum of St Petersburg University; and Pavel Skutschas, a palaeontologist and populariser of science, to name just a few.
As the information partner of St Petersburg University, we launched the new channel on 8 February, the birthday of St Petersburg University. Viewers will be treated to truly useful educational content that will engage them in the scientific and creative life of the University and the whole country. Of course, future students will also take advantage of watching the channel as they will be able to get acquainted with the fields of study, choose a specialisation and learn about open online courses developed by St Petersburg University.

Students of the Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication at St Petersburg University take part in the coverage of the University’s events. Together with the staff of the Media Centre, future journalists are also involved in the production of documentary, analytical and feature journalistic series. One of them — "Reflections" — will introduce the best teachers of St Petersburg University, such as the famous artists of the Lenfilm Film Studio who teach at St Petersburg University.

Destinies" will present the audience with dialogues with outstanding graduates of Leningrad State University and St Petersburg University who managed to influence the course of history of the University, the city, the country and even the world.
