Iranian Ambassador thanks St Petersburg University for its contribution to development of Iranian studies

A certificate of appreciation for the contribution to the development of Iranian studies and teaching the Persian language was given to St Petersburg University at the closing ceremony of the 5th Forum of Iranists and Persian Language Teachers in Russia.
Mehdi Sanaei, professor of St Petersburg University and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation pointed out the endeavour of founders, workers and thinkers of the Research Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran of St Petersburg University.
Today, it is one of the most active centres of Iranian studies and language in the Russian Federation, and I hope this feature will continue in the future.

Mehdi Sanaei expressed a special gratitude to Nikolay Kropachev, Rector of St Petersburg University, and his colleagues for their efforts in developing and enhancing academic collaboration and inter-university connections between Russia and Iran.
From 2014 the forum has been held at the initiative of Mehdi Sanaei and under the aegis of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow. It gathers experts from all over Russia and other countries of the Eurasian region. In the annual meetings the participants summarise results of the research work in the area of Iranian studies and teaching Persian language, share their views, and discuss teaching problems and needs. Also, they consider suggestions about improving the level of research, share their experience with the young generation of researchers and teachers of the Farsi language and lay out the directions of development of Iranian studies for the next year.
