A new online course from St Petersburg University introduces the fundamentals of philosophy
For those who want to get acquainted with the key issues in philosophy and modern approaches to solving them, experts from St Petersburg University have developed a new online course.
The course "Philosophy" is in English and consists of ten modules. You need to have a high level of proficiency in English (at least B2) to take up the course.
The course examines the key stages in the development of world philosophical thought. Students are introduced to the variety of problems solved by philosophy. The course spans such topics as classical and modern issues in ontology, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, logic, and metaphysics. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to apply the fundamental principles of philosophy to the analysis and assessment of social problems and processes and explore current approaches to finding answers to the eternal questions: what the truth, knowledge, and justice is.
The course is developed by the University leading experts. Among them are the following: Nikita Kuznetsov, Director of the Institute of Philosophy at St Petersburg University; Aleksandr Lvov, Associate Professor in the Department of History of Philosophy at St Petersburg University; Iuliia Shaposhnikova, Associate Professor in the Department of History of Philosophy at St Petersburg University; Igor Larionov, Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophical Anthropology at St Petersburg University; and Nikita Nogovitsyn, Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Studies, Philosophy of Culture and Aesthetics at St Petersburg University to name just a few.
