Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students will learn about theoretical approaches to studying vision, the most important concepts, and the latest experimental data in the psychology of visual perception. The material is presented in a way that is accessible not only to those who study psychology but also to learners without special knowledge in this area.
Vision is the primary sense we use to gather information about the world and about ourselves. Students will: focus on the strategies and aspects of visual perception; review the data on cerebral mechanisms of vision and sensory systems; and gain an overall understanding of how the mind and consciousness work. On completion of the course, students will enhance their knowledge of the phenomenology of visual perception and various attempts to explain this process. They will also know about the theoretical approaches and empirical methods of psychophysical measurements, tools for their analysis and interpretation, and much more.
