St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024: St Petersburg University and TV BRICS to promote the prestige of Russian education in the BRICS+ countries
St Petersburg University and the TV BRICS media network have agreed on cooperation to promote Russia’s achievements in education and research in the BRICS+ media space. During the 27th St Petersburg International Economic Forum, the document was signed by Elena Chernova, Senior Vice-Rector of St Petersburg University, and Zhanna Tolstikova, Director General of TV BRICS.
Collaboration between the University and TV BRICS involves the implementation of joint projects to popularise the Russian language, promote the prestige of Russian education, and organise major events: conferences, round tables and seminars involving interaction with leading experts of the BRICS+ countries to exchange experience and research results and developments.
Throughout its 300-year history, St Petersburg University has been committed to ensuring quality education to solve real-life pressing problems. We are still committed to this aim today. St Petersburg University focuses on academic programmes and research work with the BRICS+ countries and acts as an expert organisation on the most pressing issues.

Today, St Petersburg University is committed to strengthening international cooperation and promoting the Russian language and Russian culture abroad, said Elena Chernova, Senior Vice-Rector of St Petersburg University. In September last year, St Petersburg University opened the Online School, i.e. a unique project that the University is implementing with the support of the Government Office and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The project makes it possible for Russian-speaking schoolchildren throughout the world to receive a full, high-quality education in the Russian language in Russia and enter the best Russia’s universities.
The TV BRICS media network is an international information partner for many major events in Russia organised under the auspices of universities, including the Youth Forum "Culture Code at St Petersburg University".
The international network TV BRICS was created in 2017 on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which received the support of the heads of the states at the 9th BRICS summit in China. Today, among the TV BRICS partners are more than 30 higher education institutions in Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, including members of the BRICS Network University, the Ministry of Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, and the Ministry of Education of Cuba.
St Petersburg University previously presented a project for an investment arbitration institute for the BRICS countries, which will simplify the dispute resolution procedure and increase the investment attractiveness of the country of the interstate association.
