St Petersburg University and Free University of Berlin announced Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
You can submit your application to the first call for applications for the academic year 2019-2020. The Postdoctoral Fellows will conduct their research projects under the joint supervision of Free University of Berlin and St Petersburg University experienced researchers. The call is open to all disciplines, thematic or subject areas that exist at both universities or are complementary.
«Such kind of joint competition is held by SPbU and the Free University of Berlin for the first time, — says the Vice-Rector for Research of SPbU Sergey Aplonov. — It is one of the activities following the idea of the strategic partnership between the two leading universities — this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of cooperation with our respected partner.»
St Petersburg University already has experience of carrying out postdocs competitions. SPbU was the first university in Russia to launch a postdoc programme. It has been implemented since 2013 in 6 main areas of SPbU development Programme: nanotechnology and materials science, biomedicine and human health, information systems and technology, ecology and nature management, social research and technologies, human resource management and technologies.
According to Sergey Aplonov, the new joint competition creates opportunities for young scientists to realize their research potential on a new level. «The aim of the joint PostDoc Fellowship Programme is to support the career opportunities of young researchers and to promote research cooperation as a career path in the framework of the strategic partnership between St Petersburg University and Free University of Berlin, — the Vice-Rector for Research noted. — The programme seeks to pool the resources of two prestigious and partnered research universities and to recruit highly qualified, early-career postdoctoral researchers».
Each Fellowship lasts 24 months — starting on October 1, 2019 — and includes two phases: 12 months at Free University of Berlin and 12 months at St Petersburg University — in any order. To apply for participation in the joint programme a candidate must have received Ph. D. no more than three years prior to the deadline of this call (January 15, 2019). Applicants holding a tenure or tenure-track faculty position are not eligible.
