St Petersburg University expands cooperation with the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Belarus

What information St Petersburg University academic credentials provide

As part of the event, an official ceremony of signing the Roadmap was held. It is a cooperation plan, which specifies a list of key joint events for Belarusian schoolchildren, students and their parents. This includes: St Petersburg University Olympiad for schoolchildren; career guidance lectures; and the St Petersburg University student Olympiad Petropolitan Science (Re)Search to name just a few.

Eduard Krustkaln, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Republic of Belarus, and Aleksandr Babich, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Admissions of St Petersburg State University, addressed the meeting attendees with a welcoming speech. Mr Krustkaln said that St Petersburg University is the number one university among the citizens of the Republic of Belarus.

Aleksandr Babich in his speech noted that the University provides applicants with a wide range of academic programmes. At the same time, the competitive advantage of the University programmes is their focus on the requirements of the labour market and interdisciplinarity. He also noted that the University issues its own diploma in two languages (Russian and English). It also has a supplement that corresponds to the basic parameters of the Diploma Supplement approved by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO. This makes it possible for graduates of St Petersburg University to continue their studies abroad or get a job with foreign companies.

As part of the Day of St Petersburg University, future applicants: became acquainted with the list of fields of study; found out the details of this year's admission campaign and the admission procedure; and asked their questions to the representatives of the University.

Additionally, the schoolchildren could participate in the career guidance master class ‘How to choose a profession: higher education, labour market and career prospects’, conducted by Aleksandr Babich. They could also undergo psychological training on time management conducted by Vitalii Prusakov, a clinical psychologist and a coordinator in the field of psychology of the open international Olympiad among students and young researchers Petropolitan Science (Re)Search. Also, Kirill Chistiakov, Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences at St Petersburg University, Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society, delivered a popular science lecture ‘The Age of Geography – New Challenges of Earth Sciences in the 21^st Century’.

At the end of the meeting, Evgeniia Kuznetsova, Acting Head of the Admission Directorate of St Petersburg University, told the applicants about the details of the admission campaign in 2021 and answered questions from the audience.
