St Petersburg University launches mentoring programme to support budding students
St Petersburg University has presented a mentoring programme for motivated students and young graduates. The aim of the programme is to help them shape and develop their professional careers.
Under the guidance of a mentor, participants will be able to: create an individual career plan; improve the skills needed to be competitive in the labour market; find their strengths; and discover personal opportunities.
Registration for the mentoring programme is open until 9 October.
Such a model of informal instruction is presented as a communication between a mentor (an expert in the chosen field, who is a source of knowledge, and an assistant in setting specific goals) and a mentee (a student or recent graduate of St Petersburg University who wants to build his/her own successful career strategy and wants to learn how to apply and utilise the competences already available to him/her).
The mentors of the project are graduates of the University with extensive professional experience that has been confirmed by successfully implemented projects.
To participate in the programme, third- and fourth-year bachelor’s or master’s students of all academic programmes, as well as St Petersburg University graduates starting their careers, can submit an application on the University’s website.
The programme will take place in several stages: after a general meeting of the participants with representatives of the expert community on 27 October, the students will start developing a professional fulfilment plan and will participate in three online or in person meetings with mentors in the presence of coordinators. The defence of the career map and summing up of the results of the work are scheduled for 24 December and will take place at St Petersburg University.
