St Petersburg University offers a new online programme in graphic design: an introduction to the basics and lots of practice
In today’s world, graphic design can be found at every turn. Advertising billboards, posters, signage, logos, website and application interfaces, design of printed products and online courses − all this visual communication language is created by a graphic designer.
The online course "Graphic Design. Principles of Design" consists of eight modules. Each module contains one creative assignment. The authors, lecturers in the Department of Design from St Petersburg University, will help students to complete their projects. They will help students learn the necessary theory; study the best practices and methods of achieving such a result; and consider typical mistakes and ways of correcting them.

You do not need any special knowledge to study in the programme. Tasks can be completed both in graphic editors (Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop) and with the help of paper and minimal art supplies.
The authors of the programme are confident that it will be of interest even to those who are beginners in design, but have a desire to learn the basic principles of composition and the working-out of an imaginative design solution.
