St Petersburg University recognised by the RAEX agency as one of the most influential universities in Russia
The RAEX agency has published a ranking of the most influential Russian universities. St Petersburg University is listed among the top three most influential universities, alongside Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
The RAEX University Influence Ranking is compiled every two years. It features 75 universities evaluated based on their contribution to the formation of elites, their role in the scientific community, their authority among young people, and their impact on the online audience. The results of the 2024 ranking are published on the official website of the RAEX ranking agency.
In 2024, St Petersburg University received the highest scores for its influence on the scientific community, maintaining its traditional second-place position in this sub-ranking, following Lomonosov Moscow State University. In terms of influence on the Internet audience, the University advanced one position to third place. Regarding its contribution to the formation of elites, St Petersburg University remains in the top five, as in the previous 2022 ranking.
The evaluation factors in the RAEX University Influence Ranking have different weights. The formation of elites has the greatest impact on the final ranking, accounting for 35%, while influence on the scientific community contributes 25%. Authority among young people and influence on the Internet audience each have a weight of 20%.
The RAEX University Influence Ranking is based on 14 criteria, with initial data collected from independent sources. These include official websites of federal authorities, Wikipedia, Similarweb data, information on the number of graduates in management positions in major Russian companies and federal authorities, the number of social media followers, and data from both Russian and international academic sources.
