St Petersburg University teaches how to cope with stress on a new online programme
As part of the new online programme, experts from St Petersburg University will discuss the nature of stress, its emotional manifestations in various life circumstances, psychological reactions to high levels of tension, and strategies for overcoming difficult situations.
Online courses are available on the platform Open Education.
The course is designed to help students develop stress management skills in both personal and professional fields. It offers a systematic approach to studying various aspects of stress, starting with determining its causes and ending with methods of dealing with personal crises and practical solutions to experiencing extreme situations.
The programme provides four separate courses. Each of them examines potential sources of increased stress levels and establishes guidelines for overcoming challenging periods in life.
In the course "Introduction to Psychology of Stress", students will grasp the essence of the concept and the inevitability of a stressful state in a person’s life, as well as study methods for diagnosing their own stress levels. During the second online course, "Stress in Family Life" students will review the cycle of family relationships, learn how to overcome crises that arise in their personal lives, and understand the mechanisms that influence a person’s choice of a partner.
The online course "Stress in the Workplace" will assist in understanding how work relationships impact stress levels, which methods promote a comfortable working environment, and ways to prevent professional burnout. The fourth course "Stress, crisis, extreme situations" enables students to explore the experiences that arise when confronting extreme events, how to successfully navigate them, and strategies to mitigate the psychological aftermath.
The programme is suitable for individuals living amid high-stress conditions seeking effective stress management methods, including students, employees of organisations, and those leading active lifestyles encountering continual challenges. Moreover, the programme proves valuable for professionals in caregiving roles working with individuals facing emotional stress, irrespective of their psychological training.
