Teachers of SPbU have conducted "Engineering camp" for school students aged 12 to 17
The weeklong "Engineering camp" intensive course for students of general education institutions has been held at the Children’s Technopark "Quantorium" with the support of St Petersburg University.
Each day of "Engineering camp" started with an introductory lecture, where participants of the camp got acquainted with educational programmes implemented by St Petersburg University. For five days scientists and teachers from St Petersburg University have been conducting interactive classes and introducing high-tech physics, geoinformatics, business informatics and other interdisciplinary areas to the students of St. Petersburg schools.
SPBU AND THE LARGEST IN RUSSIA CHILDREN’S TECHNOPARK "QUANTORIUM" SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT IN 2020. SINCE THEN SEVERAL LARGE JOINT CAREER GUIDANCE PROJECTS AND INTELLECTUAL COMPETITIONS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED, SUCH AS THE "SKILL UP" ALL-RUSSIAN COMPETITION OF SCHOOL STUDENTS’ PROJECTS IN A RANGE OF SUBJECTS (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY, AND GEOGRAPHY), THE "TECHNOMIX" COMPETITION ON BIOLOGY, INFORMATICS, PHYSICS, THE "PERSPECTIVE" ALL-RUSSIAN COMPETITION SCHOOL STUDENTS’ RESEARCH AND PRACTICAL PROJECTS, PROJECT SESSIONS, ETC.
Schoolchildren were also given an opportunity to solve applied problems while developing professional skills. Prospective scientists assembled and programmed a pneumatic manipulator, created a model of an airplane wing, and assembled the most efficient model of wind turbines. At the end of the intensive course, teams defended their projects in front of an expert jury — representatives of the University, Quantorium and professional community, who noted the high level of training of schoolchildren.
