Rostislav Pavlov, 29, is the youngest operating oncologist-surgeon in Russia and a medical director. He began his studies in Donetsk, continued them in Kharkov. Then, Rostislav entered the St Petersburg Graduate School of Oncology. After he had worked in the St Petersburg University Pirogov Clinic of High Medical Technologies, Mr Pavlov left for Moscow for several months. However, he returned and filled in the position of the Clinic’s Deputy Director of the Medical Part.
Mr Pavlov strives to implement innovative approaches into medicine and instructs his colleagues to find a way of treating their patients. He does also teach patients to take care of themselves. He believes that trust and close contacts between doctors and their patients are of great importance during treatment and recovery. With the employees and patients attending meditation training under the supervision of guest specialists, the talented doctor-administrator has implemented into practice and made it mandatory for his fellow doctors at the Clinic to undergo psychotherapeutic sessions to combat their burning out, fatigue, and misperception.
While mastering the Surgical Leadership Programme at Harvard Medical School, why do surgeons from all corners of the world discuss monetary issues and their proceeds? What do they do to stand up to the deaths of the patients? What should they consider while bringing unpleasant news to the patients and their family members? Rostislav Pavlov commented on these questions for the Forbes '30 under 30 with Anastasia Karpova' project interview.
