Acquisition of Russian as a first and second language in childhood
SPbU Representative Office in Spain invites you to an online lecture "Acquisition of Russian as a first and second language in childhood". The lecture will be given by Tatiana Kruglyakova, Associate Professor in the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and its Teaching Methods, author of more than 100 research publications on the grammar of children’s speech and the theory of perception of spoken language.
Language proficiency is one of the most important skills in the modern world. People who speak two or more languages have a clear advantage, both socially and professionally. So how do you raise a bilingual child and what are the challenges?
In today’s multilingual and multicultural world, the importance of teaching children languages is undeniable. There are many different language schools and courses, and new methods are constantly being developed. Unique teaching resources are produced every year. The authors insist on the need to introduce innovative methods of learning a language as a mother tongue, as a second mother tongue and as a foreign language.
In order to make sense of the endless stream of educational materials and to choose the most appropriate for the student, it is necessary to have a basic knowledge of the processes of language acquisition in a monolingual and in a bilingual child.
This lecture will introduce the main patterns of language acquisition in childhood. We will also examine the development of phonemic hearing and the articulatory base in speech ontogeny, the formation of grammatical concepts, the enrichment of vocabulary and the improvement of associative links. We will look at children’s speech errors as a sign of a legitimate stage of language acquisition and learn about typical errors made by monolingual and bilingual children.
