The first textbooks on Russian as a foreign language and their authors (a story of creation)
On the European Day of Languages St Petersburg University Representative Office in Italy and the University for Foreigners of Siena will held an online lecture “The first textbooks on Russian as a foreign language and their authors (a story of creation)” within a framework of a joint project of online lectures. The lecture will be delivered by SPbU Professor Leonid Moskovkin.
The lecture will give a brief description of the first four printed textbooks on Russian as a foreign language (textbooks of G. Ludolf, E. Kopievich, I. Taubert and V. Adodurov). It will focus on history of creation of these textbooks. The lecturer will tell about motives for creating these textbooks taking into account documents found in archives and little known sources. The remarkable thing is that textbooks of Taubert and Adodurov were created in St Petersburg University, which marks 300th anniversary in 2024.

Leonid Moskovkin is a Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Methods of its Teaching at St Petersburg University, author of over 350 scientific works, including more than 10 research monographs. Sphere of his academic interests covers theory and history of pedagogy, theory and history of teaching foreign languages, history of linguistics.
