History of the University in signs and icons

The phaleristic exhibition is dedicated to the least explored century in the three-hundred-year history of St Petersburg University. Signs and badges — massive commemorative objects — reflect the history of Leningrad State University and St Petersburg University, primarily the development of the faculty structure, important events, anniversaries, and extracurricular activities of the University students and lecturers, for example, student construction teams and so on. It is usual to give gifts on anniversaries: the phaleristic collection of the St Petersburg University History Museum is far from being complete. One of the objectives of the exhibition is therefore to attract potential donations to the museum.
