SPbU Flag That Travelled to Space to Be Handed Over to the University
As part of the celebrations for SPbU Day, cosmonauts from Roscosmos will deliver a flag that travelled aboard the International Space Station (ISS) during the University’s 300th anniversary year. The flag will be handed over by the crew of ISS Expedition 71, including Hero of Russia and crew commander Oleg Kononenko, as well as cosmonauts Nikolai Chub and Alexander Grebenkin.
During the University’s anniversary year, the flag was sent into space, where it was signed by Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chub, and Alexander Grebenkin.
At the ceremony, the cosmonauts will present the flag to the University, which journeyed to low Earth orbit and then to the International Space Station at an altitude of over 400 kilometres.
In 2024, the University received congratulations on its 300th anniversary from the International Space Station, delivered by Hero of Russia and Roscosmos cosmonaut commander Oleg Kononenko and test cosmonaut Nikolai Chub. Additionally, a rocket bearing SPbU’s insignia was launched into space.
Following the ceremony, the ISS Expedition 71 crew will participate in a meeting with SPbU faculty and students, where attendees will have the opportunity to receive autographs from the cosmonauts on exclusive postcards featuring the SPbU flag.
