Vladimir Fock’s 125th anniversary
SPbU will host an online exhibition dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Alexandrovich Fock.
Fock belongs to a brilliant line of theoretical physicists whose work led to the greatest achievement of the human mind — quantum theory. Researchers place his name on the same level as Einstein, Bohr, Rutherford, Kapitsa, and Landau. Fock made a major contribution to the development of the theory of diffraction and propagation of radio waves, to Einstein’s theory of gravity, and achieved outstanding results in theoretical photometry, the theory of elasticity, and the theory of integral equations.
By the order of the Rector of SPbU No 17/1 of 31 May 2001, the Physics Research Institute of SPbU was named after Vladimir Aleksandrovich Fock.
