Young Guard: The History of the Komsomol at Leningrad University
29 October marks the 106th anniversary of the founding of the Komsomol. The initiative to create the organisation came from Vladimir Lenin, whose speech "Tasks of the Youth Leagues" at the Third All-Russian Komsomol Congress became the main ideological document of the Komsomol. At the beginning of 1921 there were only a few Komsomol members at our university. Their task was to help the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) promote a unified ideological line, organise practical activities at the university, and thus unite the progressive part of the student body at Leningrad University. The online exhibition of the Museum of History of St Petersburg University includes photographs from the 1920s, Komsomol membership cards and honorary certificates.
