St Petersburg University at the 2nd International Forum of Ministers of Education

The delegation of St Petersburg University has taken part in the 2nd International Forum of Ministers of Education in Kazan.
At the plenary session, Aleksandr Babich, Senior Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Admissions at St Petersburg University, told about the Online School of St Petersburg University and invited universities of the Russian Federation and foreign countries to join this project and other international projects of the University.
The presentation of the project "Online School of St Petersburg University" focused on two possible formats for implementing this project: the format of a comprehensive online school, which involves issuing a state-issued education document, i.e. a school certificate; and the format of additional classes (a weekend school).
The University has been implementing this project since 2018 and currently has extensive experience in conducting classes online. From 1 September 2023, St Petersburg University has offered the comprehensive Online School in accordance with the federal state educational standards. At the end of the first year of study, 14 ninth-grade pupils who have successfully passed the state final assessment receive state school certificates.
The forum also discussed issues relating to promoting the Russian language in Africa via the foundation "My history". It is planned to open education centres with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia and the foundation "My history". Additionally, it is planned to develop cooperation in the field of career guidance for schoolchildren and interaction with the historical parks "Russia — my history".
The development of partnerships with the foundation "My history" is the most essential area of our work. We have already signed a number of agreements and we are expected to sign several more important projects to open education centres in African countries.

'We are interested in jointly developing projects with the foundation in the field of career guidance for schoolchildren, including in close cooperation with the historical parks "Russia — my history". Moreover, the experience of our joint work with the historical park in St Petersburg is positive, and our joint Olympiad for schoolchildren in the history of St Petersburg is actively developing,' said Aleksandr Babich.
At the meeting in Kazan, the St Petersburg University delegation held negotiations with representatives of the International Children’s Camp "Artek", the All-Russian Children’s Centre ‘Orlyonok’ and the All-Russian Children’s Centre "Smena". The forum also discussed the issues relating to organising thematic subject sessions by academic staff and students at the University, student internships, and sending the students who participate in the activities of Russian student teams to work as counsellors during children’s sessions.
