Ambassador of Qatar visits St Petersburg University
Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jasim Al Thani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation, has visited St Petersburg University. The meeting focused on the prospects for further cooperation in the field of education and research.
Nikolay Kropachev, Rector of St Petersburg University, said that in order to develop cooperation, it is necessary to establish direct contacts with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar. Another initiative was opening a joint campus or a branch of St Petersburg University in Qatar. The University has already implemented similar projects in China, Egypt, and Uzbekistan.
St Petersburg University plans to sign an open-ended agreement on academic cooperation with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development; Rosneft; and HEC Paris (École des hautes études commerciales de Paris).
In 2021, St Petersburg University took part in the implementation of the programme "Legacy of the Qatar Pavilion" as part of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
