Sergei Belov receives the award "Dean of the Year"
Sergei Belov, Dean of the Faculty of Law at St Petersburg University, is a laureate of the national award "Dean of the Year" of the Russian Professorial Assembly in the nomination "Legal Sciences."
The award is given for outstanding results in the management of a university structural unit.
Sergei Belov said that it was especially honourable to receive the award in the year of the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg University and the 300th anniversary of legal education in our country: "In the imperial decree of Peter the Great on the founding of the University, the Faculty of Law was declared as one of the four faculties to establish. We are proud of our glorious history, our educators, and we honour the traditions to benefit the St Petersburg legal school."
When choosing the award winners, the jury pays attention to the results of the academic and research subdivisions, i.e. the publication activity, the volume of grants received, accreditation of academic programmes, and the number of students who have won Olympiads to name just a few. "The Dean of the Year Award is a victory for the entire large team, the close-knit team of the Faculty of Law at St Petersburg University, its educators and students. St Petersburg University has been recognised as the best law school in the country for three years in a row according to the RAEX Rating Agency. Today’s award is evidence of the quality of our work," said Sergei Belov.
The award ceremony took place during the annual Professorial Forum in Moscow.
Sergei Belov has been teaching at the University for over 20 years, has served as Head of the Faculty of Law since 2017, has served as Head of the Department of Constitutional Law, Head of the University Research Institute of State Language Problems, and Head of the Monitoring Law Enforcement project.
In 2020, Sergei Belov was chosen as "Lawyer of the Year" in the nomination "Legal Education and Upbringing." From 2019 to 2020, he served as President of the Association of Legal Education of Russia. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal "Pravovedenie," a member of the Research Advisory Council under the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Scientific Advisory Council under the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
