St Petersburg University launches a master’s programme at the intersection of IT education and media
The new programme "Artificial Intelligence in Journalism and Media Communication" will provide the modern media market with high-calibre experts with skills in the production, implementation and producing of media products using artificial intelligence and big data technologies. Students will study programming in Python and do internships at Yandex sites.
Master’s students will acquire comprehensive multidisciplinary knowledge of communication, artificial intelligence, computer science, language theory, and management. They will also learn how to implement AI technology in the production of media products, evaluate their effectiveness and audience involvement in media projects.

The programme has been developed by practising teachers at the Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication of St Petersburg University, who implement project-based educational approaches for full immersion in the profession of media specialist.
Graduates of St Petersburg University can focus on a career as a media communications specialist, work in data journalism, media project analysis, PR and advertising. They can also be involved in research activities.
St Petersburg University offers several master’s programmes with an IT component, including: "Business Administration in the Digital Economy"; "Foreign Language in Network Technology and Artificial Intelligence"; "Project Management in Digital Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy"; "Artificial Intelligence and International Security"; "Digital Sociology"; "Digital Technology in Linguistic Projects"; and "The Culture of the Digital Society".
Applicants are also invited to consider programmes in allied media communications related fields: "Visual Communications in Journalism and Advertising"; "Journalism and Culture of Society"; "Corporate Communications and Advertising"; "Media Communication"; "Communication Project Management in Politics and Business"; and "Professional Speech Activity in Mass Media".
